Day 5: How to Find JOY in Your Crazy!

haribos peaches I admit. I do rejoice in Haribo Peach Gummies.  I shared a bag last night with my sweet husband. A lil bag of joy! Yesterday was one of those “in the trenches” kind of days with our almost 3-year-old.

I was overloaded with needs

and potty training failures

and tantrums

and tears

and all the words from an emerging little communicator.

I wasn’t happy about it, my feelings stunk most of the time, but I was decisively taking tiny steps to proclaim all the beautiful things that God is through rejoicing.

And after the little man was finally bathed and bedded, I descended downstairs to find not 1 but 2 bags of Haribo gummies awaiting!  My man knows what makes my heart happy in my craziest of days.

This week, we’ve talked about many things to finding JOY in your crazy:

1. Re-focus our expectation.

2. Re-position our “in.”

3. Re-define the source.

4. Re-think the excuses.

And today, how to have joy Sometimes when it comes to joy, I feel like it’s a clogged drain, blocked by something.  I think there are many things that block my joy but one that dominates doubt Remember from Day 2: joy

Often when I am not IN the Lord,

I doubt that God is good.

And when I’m IN doubt,

fear and worry reign

…not joy.

Doubt is one of the BIGGEST joy blockers in my life!

Doubt creeps in and whispers,

You can’t believe that God is all that. Not always, not for you

Look what’s happening to you now.

See it proves that He doesn’t love you or is good.”

When you doubt WHO God is and WHAT He can do, there really is nothing to rejoice in! Doubts like…

  • God doesn’t have a good plan for me.
  • God won’t take care of me.
  • God can’t take care of me.

Our lack of joy can be rooted in our disbelief.  And, disbelief is our problem.  God is the Truth and in Him we can be free to live a joy-free life.

So, my friend, let’s re-solve to believe the truth!

1.  When you doubt that God has a good plan for you, re-solve in these truth:

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.”

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

2. When you doubt that God will take care of you, re-solve in these truth:

Isaiah 58:11 “The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

3. When you doubt that God can take care of you, re-solve in these truth:

Job 37:5 “God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding.”

2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

1 Peter 5:10-11 “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To Him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

When we settle IN the Lord, there is much to rejoice about!  Let’s live a life filled with joy no matter what may come because GOD NEVER CHANGES and His mercies are new every morning! Rejoice! 5 square
