ex·po·sé: a report of the facts about something, esp. a journalistic report that reveals something scandalous
Ok. Slowly. Slowly. Slowly. Let’s shift our focus. Turn in slow motion speed. Move in sycronization together from where we’ve been to where we are going…down the mountain.
I must warn you though. Unlike the beautiful, white expanse of the Rocky Mountain landscape, where we are heading is ugly, spotted, grimy, embarrassing, almost scandalous. It requires a brave soul that is willing to get dirty. It requires taking the make-up off. But we have to go there. Because in going there, we can shed the mustache of mistaken identity and embrace the truth of who we are. My arm is outstretched to you. Join me. Let’s be brave together.
Like a transformation fit for reality TV, we too must face the frizzy hair or excessive weight or messy room or neglected health. We must go to the ugly parts of our heart and target those mistaken identities we so naturally hide behind. They need to be exposed and cleared out, making room for the truth and the BIG REVEAL.
This is where are heading…
God’s truth says, “By the grace of God, I am what I am.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
This is the ugly…Our mistaken identities say,
“By the way I look, I am what I am.”
“By what you think of me, I am what I am.”
“By what I can achieve, I am what I am.”
“By the things I have, I am what I am.”
“By my past, I am what I am.”
How would YOU fill in the blank?
Many people in the Bible also wrestled with these mistaken identities. Join me tomorrow and I’ll introduce you.
